Welcome to Vine Dental. Whether you’re new to Kelowna, switching dentists, or finding care for your growing family, we’re glad you’re here. Here’s everything you need to know before your first visit.
What to Expect
Your first appointment is all about getting to know each other. Here’s how it goes:
- Arrival – Check in with our front desk team. They’ll greet you by name, get you settled, and walk you through any paperwork.
- Health History – We’ll review your dental and medical history together so we have the full picture.
- Comprehensive Exam – Your dentist will do a thorough exam, including digital X-rays and an oral cancer screening. We take our time so nothing gets missed.
- Cleaning – Our hygienist will give your teeth a professional cleaning and share personalized tips for your home care routine.
- Treatment Plan – If anything needs attention, we’ll explain your options clearly, answer every question, and build a plan that works for your schedule and budget.
Plan for about 60 to 90 minutes for your first visit. After that, routine appointments are much quicker.
Insurance & Payment
We accept most major dental insurance plans and offer direct billing so you only pay the difference at the time of your visit.
- Direct billing to your insurance provider
- Visa, Mastercard, debit, and cash accepted
- Treatment estimates provided before any work begins
- Flexible payment options for larger treatments
Not sure if your plan covers something? Call us and we’ll help you figure it out before your appointment.
What to Bring
- Government-issued photo ID
- Your dental insurance card
- A list of current medications and allergies
- Your kids, if they’re coming too
- Your questions (seriously, ask us anything)
Bringing Your Kids
We love seeing little ones. The Canadian Dental Association recommends a first dental visit by age one, and we’re set up to make those early appointments as easy as possible.
Tips for Parents
- Start early. The sooner kids visit the dentist, the more normal it feels. Early visits are short, gentle, and focused on building comfort.
- Keep it positive. Talk about the dentist as a friendly helper who keeps their teeth strong. Skip the scary stories.
- Book family appointments. Kids do great when they see mom or dad in the chair first. We can often schedule the whole family back to back.
- Bring a comfort item. A favourite stuffed animal or blanket is always welcome.
- Celebrate after. Make it a fun outing. A trip to the park after the dentist goes a long way.
Our team is trained to work with children at every age and stage. We go at their pace, explain things in kid-friendly language, and never force anything. The goal is always a happy visit.
