How We Can Help

Toothache and Pain Relief

Severe tooth pain can be caused by decay, infection, a cracked tooth, gum problems, or a damaged restoration. We assess the source of the pain and recommend the right next step.

Broken or Cracked Teeth

A broken tooth may need bonding, a filling, a crown, root canal treatment, or another restorative option. Prompt care can help prevent further damage.

Lost Fillings, Crowns, and Restorations

A lost filling, crown, bridge, or veneer can leave a tooth sensitive and vulnerable. We can assess the restoration and determine whether it can be repaired, re-cemented, or replaced.

Dental Infections and Swelling

Painful swelling, a gum bump, fever, pressure, or a bad taste in the mouth can indicate infection. We assess the source and recommend treatment to protect your health and comfort.

Emergency Tooth Extractions

When a tooth cannot be predictably restored or is causing significant pain or infection, an extraction may be recommended. We will explain your options and discuss what comes next.

Dental Trauma and Injuries

Falls, sports injuries, collisions, and accidents can damage teeth, gums, or dental appliances. We provide urgent assessment and care to help protect your smile.

What You Should Know About Dental Emergencies

Not every dental problem needs emergency treatment, but severe pain, swelling, bleeding, trauma, or signs of infection should not be ignored.

A few helpful steps while arranging care:

  • Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek to help reduce swelling.
  • Keep broken tooth pieces, crowns, or restorations and bring them to your appointment if possible.
  • Avoid chewing on the affected side of your mouth.
  • If a permanent tooth is knocked out, handle it by the crown, not the root. If possible, place it back in the socket or keep it moist in milk while seeking urgent dental care.
  • Do not try to place a knocked-out baby tooth back into the socket.

Call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, severe facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or a serious injury to your face or jaw.

Supporting Your Smile Beyond Emergency Care

Restorative Dentistry

Emergency treatment is sometimes only the first step. Restorative care can help repair damaged teeth and protect your smile moving forward.

Dental Implants

If a tooth needs to be removed, dental implants may be an option for restoring long-term function, comfort, and confidence.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges can help restore teeth that are weakened, broken, worn, or missing.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental emergency may involve severe pain, swelling, bleeding, infection, trauma, or damage to a tooth or restoration. Call Vine Dental if you are unsure. Our team can help you determine how urgently you need to be seen.

Most toothaches, broken teeth, lost crowns, dental infections, and damaged restorations are best assessed by a dentist. Go to the emergency room or call 911 if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, severe facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or serious facial trauma.

If it is a permanent tooth, handle it by the crown, rinse it gently with water if needed, and seek dental care right away. If possible, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it moist in milk or saliva. Do not put a knocked-out baby tooth back into the socket.

Yes. Severe tooth pain can be caused by several issues, including decay, infection, a crack, gum problems, or an old restoration. We will assess the source of the pain and explain the treatment options available.

Yes. Swelling, pressure, a painful gum bump, fever, or a bad taste in the mouth can be signs of infection. Prompt assessment is important so we can identify the cause and recommend the right treatment.

Keep the restoration if you can find it, avoid chewing on that tooth, and call Vine Dental. Do not use household glue to put a crown or restoration back in place.

Vine Dental offers same-day emergency appointments when possible. Call our Kelowna clinic so our team can assess your concern and advise on the next available step.
